What would have happened if the three partners who met while they were students at the University of San Francisco: English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegl, and writer Gordon Bowker didn’t follow their dream. There would be no STARBUCKS!

The three were inspired to sell high-quality coffee beans and equipment by coffee roasting entrepreneur Alfred Peet after he taught them his style of roasting beans.

You Are NEVER Too Old to Follow Your Restaurant Dreams and Life Is Too Short to Have Regrets! ….

Have you ever wondered whether you’re “too old” to do what you love?

Are you letting the idea that you’re too old or too young hold you back?

Age insecurity is a stubborn mental block! It prevents many would-be superstars from achieving enormous success.

Do you know anyone who considers themselves a late bloomer?

Did you ever pass on something because you thought you were too old and now you want to kick yourself ?

There are loads of  famous and not so famous people who achieve great things at every age!

I thought I’d hone in on just restaurant and food industry people to hit home!

famous foodie peeps started late in life

You can’t tell me these people weren’t discouraged at times and afraid.

Being human, I’m sure they thought about giving up many times but didn’t; they kept their dreams alive and continued to go after what they wanted. They certainly didn’t assign an age limit to their dreams and neither should YOU.

When Robbie Montgomery experienced a lung collapse that ended her singing career, (she was an Ikette in the Ike and Tina Turner Review) she knew it was time to refocus and go after new career dreams.

At 71, she and her family have a reality show on OWN that follows her fulfilling her lifelong dream of opening another location to her family’s restaurant business in St. Louis. This matriarch on “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” is proof that your career dreams can be achieved at any age.

At 40 years of age, Colonel Harland Saunders started serving chicken and other meals in his roadside service station in 1930 a midst the Great Depression. He worked to perfect his chicken for 10 years finally creating his famous secret recipe and expanding to more locations.

~ Success has no age limit: There is no cap on how young or old you have to be to reach success. Some careers take longer than others do.

~ A career switch can improve your happiness factor: Our careers have a lot to do with our happiness in other areas of our life. If we don’t like the job that we go to everyday, a lot of the stress and frustration can easily spill over into our home and social lives. Having a job you hate or are bored with can bring you that much closer to recognizing your true dream and can give you the push you need to go for it.

It’s easier to be successful at something you are passionate about rather than something you have no interest in at all.

~ You don’t want to have career regrets: Holding on to a career that no longer interests you can be draining. The more you push-off going after your professional dreams and goals the more you will look up and say “I should’ve… could’ve…would’ve.”

Having regrets about opportunities you should have taken advantage of is never a good feeling.

No matter if you’re in your 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, or beyond, you can still have your chance. Becoming successful is not limited to one certain age or even one career.

In fact, the most successful people are the ones who have reinvented themselves, tried, failed, and tried again.

Not trying because you felt at a certain age that it was too late for your success, dreams should have no age limit…

Don’t put off starting to work toward your dream; don’t do that to yourself.

Amazing people achieved their dreams because they believed in themselves!

I was almost 30 when I started my first food business and 45 when I started the current business I’m partners in. I’m about to venture into my next business, I won’t stop until I stop dreaming which means I will have to stop breathing…

Believe in YOU and don’t look back. Life is about to change for the better, I know it can.
