McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, and In-N-Out Burger use them!
Color plays a significant role in our preferences and decision-making.
“It is the effects of the electromagnetic radiation of light on human mood and behavior – a universal, psychophysical reaction, which is not as heavily influenced by culture, age, and gender as is generally thought.” Angela Wright- She studied psychoanalytical psychotherapy at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, England, before studying the dynamics of color in Carmel, California, USA, and identified links between patterns of color and patterns of human behavior.
Many brands whose products deal with the environment utilize green. The food industry uses it to draw those who are nature-focused.
Whole Foods takes advantage of the fact that people associate green with health.
Let’s get back to why McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, In-N-Out Burger and so many others use RED and YELLOW!
Coca-Cola takes advantage of red’s allure.
Hooters uses orange; though some people may not approve of the brand’s dress code, the company doesn’t try to hide its identity.
Harley Davidson also employs orange as a major factor in its logo
When you think about choosing your colors for a restaurant’s decor, signage, the cuisine, staff uniforms or dress codes and service you see just how a color can be utilized to create your businesses branding. And how that can influence and stimulate where people will go to eat and what they will choose to eat.
Color tips when enticing your guests!
Blue is an appetite suppressant.
Golden Wheat and add some Oriental Red can arouse appetites.
Reds, oranges, violets and rich greens are all going to accentuate hunger.
Red may accentuate hunger, but an actual picture of gorgeous looking food is going to do the job a whole lot more. Keep that it mind as you add photos to your menu.
Black can be intensifying. Grocery stores have discovered that black highlights the quality and color of produce by making the background recede. Take a walk through your local grocer. Keep in mind colors that attract the target consumer and demographics you are trying to reach. Young? Affluent? Gourmet?
Keep in mind people become familiar with colors of their favorite foods to the point that similar colors consciously or subconsciously remind them of that food, making them feel hungry. Similarly, for foods you don’t like!
So the individual tastes are going to have an important factor for sure.
I don’t know about you but I’m wishing I could grab one of those right now!
