Chipotle has been trying to recover from an E. coli outbreak and norovirus cases for about a year.

It sent sales plunging last fall!

It could have put them on the brink of closing and still could.

What do they do this fall to overcome a deadly reputation; Chipotle opened the first location of its new burger concept, Tasty Made, October 27, 2016, in Lancaster, Ohio.

If at first you almost destroy your restaurant franchise with E. Coli, try, try again with a NEW BURGER JOINT FRANCHISE!!!

Some may say, are they crazy?

They are certainly not lying down or giving up on trying winning over customers.

It is one way, a franchise can save themselves, a strong way I feel.

I’ve loved Chipotle since it opened its doors several years ago in my hometown of St. Petersburg Fl, in fact during this year they just opened one even closer to my house.

It was a surprise to me when I read McDonald’s was once affiliated with Chipotle.

Chipotle became a subsidiary of McDonald’s in 1999 when McDonald’s acquired the controlling stake in the company. At one point, McDonald’s owned shares accounting for approximately 87% of the voting power of Chipotle’s common stock.

Currently, McDonald’s no longer has anything to do with Chipotle Mexican Grill, wonder how they feel about that?

I will admit it took me a few months to get over the fear of eating there after the foodborne illness outbreak, BUT it wasn’t directly their fault.

Still, you have to be weary, and anytime you eat out you are putting yourself at risk.

What inspired me to write this post is the courage and confidence they have in themselves as a food franchise. I know they have spent who knows how many painstaking days, months and perhaps years creating another possible franchise (a very competitive one I might add) and on the heels of their almost catastrophic disaster!

It takes courage’s people to get in the restaurant business in the first place. You not only have to have confidence, experience and money you have to be ready and insured for what could happen to people when they eat at your restaurant.

I don’t want to get into cleanliness, health codes, and certifications.  If you’re going to be in the restaurant industry, you and your employees should be educated and have all that’s necessary to can prevent such a situation from happening.

Follow the guidelines and instill the importance of cleanliness.

Over the years I have worked in several restaurants where this was a problem, and I either helped get their act cleaned up or left. I will not tolerate a dirty kitchen and have left projects when I felt my reputation and business is being compromised.

Getting back to the NEW franchise Tasty Made, Chipotle is unveiling.

I wish them the success they have overcome last year’s disaster and are putting themselves in direct competition with so many other “Burger Joints” that takes courage.

Moreover, no matter what they believe in themselves and their employees. They will “not give up.” Those at the corporate level to the people who prepare and serve their food.

That is the most significant strength an ENTREPRENEUR must possess. Never Give Up!

I’ve been very fortunate to work with some amazingly talented chefs and restaurant owners who taught me the skills and knowledge and gave me the confidence to become a restaurant owner and caterer.

Working at different restaurants concepts, white tablecloth to fast casual and private country clubs, learning skills and experiencing all the stations in restaurant kitchen from dishwasher to baker and everything in between, I even waited on tables. I saw many kitchens in my career.

If your passion is to open a restaurant, you must know what it is going to entail. You will deal with issues and problems that can put you in difficult situations and make you question yourself. I know I faced many in my businesses and while I managed restaurants.

Owning a restaurant or working in one is not for the faint of heart.

If you have an “I Don’t Give Up Attitude,” you have a better chance of becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Courage + confidence + passion=I Don’t Give UP
